Nike Men's NIKE JORDAN SIXTY PLUS BASKETBALL SHOES 11.5 (BLACK/VARSITY RED/FRENCH BLUE) Review
First, I must qualify myself as a Nike freak: I've worn Nikes exclusively for most of my life--basketball shoes, running shoes, trainers, hikers, aqua. I've appreciated them all and never had a bad shoe. Some of them were exceptional.When I had recently worn out my Air Jordan X's and my Air Pippens (an outstanding shoe, too bad they're out of production), I decided on replacements. I got a pair of Adidas and these Jordans. The Adidas was great, better than my Jordan X's. I thought, surely the Jordans would be superior. But when I opened the box of Jordans I was immediately deflated. First off, the uppers seemed to be made of synthetic material, not leather like my other Jordans or the Adidas; I don't know if this is really the case, but they had the look and feel of that cheap man-made stuff. I also noticed the colored parts were shoddily done, as if some guy unfamiliar with a paint brush did it by hand, the colors ran into each other and were over painted. The appearance of the whole shoe was like some knock-off sold at Wal-Mart.
Then I tried them on. Further shock and disappointment. Immediately, I noticed pinching and rubbing on my left foot, and the right insole had a weird lump in the toe area. In comparison, the Adidas fit perfectly, and, after having worn them for a weeks now, I can attest that they are indeed very good shoes (I'm surprised more Pro's don't wear them). The Jordans on the other hand feel very inferior. They lack the support, cushioning, and fit of the Adidas. They really do feel like something you'd buy at Wal-Mart.
Of course, I had to return them. In looking at these shoes and comparing them to other Nike's I've own, it seems to me that Nike's been somewhat complacent and negligent. I mean, if I just got a bad or defective pair of shoes, I could excuse that; but the whole concept and design and execution seems to have been done with very little thought. Other Nikes I've had showed great attention to detail, innovation, and quality that was first rate. This shoe seems to had been done by fat lazy people.
The Air Jordan moniker is premium to Nike and we expect a high level of quality. The Air Jordan 60 plus not only falls from that level, but falls to the level of something cheap.
